Calcium hydroxide, inorganic compound, chemical formula Ca(OH)2, commonly known as hydrated lime or slaked lime.The solubility of calcium hydroxide decreases with the increase of temperature. Insoluble in alcohol, soluble in ammonium salt, glycerol, and can react with acid to produce the corresponding calcium salt. At 580ºC, it decomposes into calcium oxide and water.
Calcium hydroxide is a strong alkali, with bactericidal and antiseptic ability, on the skin, fabric corrosion. However, because its solubility is not large, the degree of harm is not as large as strong alkali such as sodium . Calcium hydroxide is widely used in industry. It is commonly used as a building material, but also used as a fungicide and chemical raw materials.
