Polyethylene glycol is a polymer with the chemical formula
HO (CH2CH2O)nH, non-irritating, slightly bitter taste, good water solubility, and good compatibility with many organic components. It has excellent lubricity, moisturizing,dispersion, adhesion,
can be used as an antistatic agent and softener, and has a wide range of applications in cosmetics, chemical fiber, rubber, plastics, papermaking, paint, electroplating, pesticides, metal processing and food processing industries.

PEG is highly water-soluble and does not hydrolyze, so it is widely used as a water-soluble base for viscosity regulation. The solubility of PEG in water is not affected by the presence of electrolyte. It is soluble not only in hard water and brine solutions, but also in acids and bases. Polyethylene glycol (PEG) can be endowed with various functions depending on its molecular weight, such as smoothing, lubrication, thickening and diluting, plasticizing, emulsifying and dispersing, heat storage, moisturizing, bonding and antistatic, among others. For example, high molecular weight PEG is used as a water-soluble binder, low molecular weight PEG is used as a plasticizer, PEG is used as a dispersant, lubricant, heat carrier, sensitizer, dust suppressor, etc. Since both ends of polyethylene glycol (PEG) are primary alcohols, it is easy to esterify and etherify. In addition to surfactants, it is not only used as a raw material for polyester and polyurethane, but also as a raw material for many chemical products.
